Boston Celtics Survive Miami Heat in Game 6, Force Game 7

Heroic Tip-In by Derrick White Sends Series to Decisive Game

Miami, Florida - April 27, 2024

The Boston Celtics pulled off a thrilling last-second victory over the Miami Heat on Thursday night, forcing a Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Celtics, down three points with mere seconds remaining, saw their hopes of advancing seemingly evaporate. However, a desperate tip-in by Derrick White off a missed three-pointer by Marcus Smart sent the game into overtime.

In the extra period, the Celtics and Heat traded baskets, with neither team able to gain a significant advantage. Ultimately, it was a clutch jumper by Jayson Tatum with under two minutes left that proved to be the difference-maker. Despite a valiant effort by Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, the Heat were unable to respond, giving the Celtics a hard-fought 104-103 victory.

Tatum led the way for Boston with 22 points, followed by Brown's matching 22. White, whose tip-in forced overtime, finished with 13 points off the bench. For the Heat, Butler paced the offense with 23 points, while Adebayo added 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals will be played in Boston on Saturday night. The winner of that game will advance to face the Western Conference champions in the NBA Finals.
