The Fall Of The Ms Astor

The Fall of the MS Astor

From Luxury Liner to Scrapped Metal

A Tragic End to a Once-Grand Ship

In the annals of maritime history, the MS Astor holds a bittersweet place. Once a glamorous cruise ship, she has now met a tragic end, sold for scrap and destined for a watery grave.

Built in 1981, the MS Astor embarked on a illustrious career, sailing under the flags of several cruise lines and carrying countless passengers to exotic destinations around the world. But her fate took a turn when she was sold to CMV in 2014, and plans to transform her into the "Jules Verne" were abruptly halted.

In October 2020, the MS Astor was put up for auction, with Turkish scrappers emerging as the highest bidders. For a mere 1.71 million dollars, the once-proud ship was condemned to the scrapyard. It was a sad end to a vessel that had once epitomized elegance and luxury.

As we bid farewell to the MS Astor, we can't help but wonder about the countless stories she holds. The laughter, the romance, and the adventures that unfolded on her decks will forever be etched in the memories of those who sailed aboard her.
