Record-breaking Women's 100m Final at World Championships
Historic Sub-11 Second Performances
In a remarkable display of speed, seven women broke the 11-second barrier in the Women's 100m final at the World Athletics Championships Oregon22. This marks the first time in the event's history that so many athletes have achieved such a feat in a single race.
The race, held in front of a packed and enthusiastic crowd at Hayward Field, featured a repeat of the Olympic podium finishers. Elaine Thompson-Herah of Jamaica defended her title with a dominant performance, crossing the line in 10.61 seconds. She was followed by Shericka Jackson, also of Jamaica, who finished in 10.73 seconds, and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who took home the bronze in 10.76 seconds.
The race not only set a new record for the most sub-11 second performances in a World Championships final but also showcased the exceptional talent and depth in the women's 100m event globally.
